Book Club Meets August 24th

Book Club Meets this Tuesday August 24th at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the book "Wolf Willow" by Wallace Earl Stegner.

A Special Thanks to Local Artist Marshall Raeburn

Local artist Marshall Raeburn who makes "Found Object Art" donated an all original piece he specifically made for the Lead Library's Teen Place. It is not only art but also a functioning/working clock for the area.

About the Artist: Marshall became an artist because one day he was looking for rocks on Conata Road near highway 44; there was a town there at one time called Conata, South Dakota. It was a rending town next to the railroad track. All that's left are the bleached stones of the building fountains and broken pieces of metal, glass, pottery and wood. There in the dirt next to an interesting stone was the internal working of a door lock rusting away. Marshall looked at that door lock and out of the blue saw quite clearly that the door lock looked just like the head of a robot. Marshall began to look for pieces to make him whole. Marhsall collected a lot of junk and that junk turned into that robot, the flaming mesoamerican deity, and the bobbling one eyed alien. Who knew? All of the pieces used for the new teen place clock were found and Marshall turned junk into art; which is what he is known for. To learn more about the artist check out Marshall's work on Facebook.
